College Hawks take 3 of 4

The College Hawks travelled to the Youngstown Ohio area to take on the Ohio Glaciers on Saturday 6/29 at Pemberton Park.

Game 1 Hawks - 4 at Glaciers 1

The home team jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the second Glacier batter parked a bomb over the left field fence. That lead would hold up until the third when the Hawks would mount a rally. Zack Michael would lead off with a single and after a fly out Colin Parcher would reach base setting the stage for Hunter Smith, who delivered with a three run bomb to right to give the Hawks a 3-1 lead. Mike Calloway later delivered a two out RBI double to give the Hawks a 4-1 lead. The Hawks were led on the mound by John Fortunato who pitched 6 innings of 3 hit ball with no walks.

Game 2 Hawks- 5 at Glaciers – 6

The Hawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead only to see the home team score 3 runs in the bottom of the second to take a 3-2 lead. The Glaciers went up 4-2 after 4. The Hawks tied it up 4-4 only to give up a run in the bottom of the fifth to fall behind 5-4 after 5. The Hawks came right back to tie it up after 6 only to give up a run in the bottom of the 7th to lose 6-5. The offense was led by Colin Parcher who was 2/3 with 2 doubles.

Game 1 Hawks- 2 at the Ohio Baseball Club - 1 12 innings

The Hawks travelled to Medina High School to take on the Ohio Baseball Club on Sunday. Pitching dominated the game as both teams exchanged earlier 1 run scores into a 1-1 tie after 7. The game moved along into the 12th before the Hawks could push across a run off the bat of Joe Gentile to take a 2-1 lead. Matt Olsavsky earned the win with 3 innings of no hit ball. Cory Fox started the game and went 5 innings giving up 1 run on 5 hits. Jake Chipka then came in and threw 4 innings of no hit ball. Cory Brown, Zach Michael and Colin Parcher had two hits in the marathon game.

16U Toledo Hawks beat the  Detroit Metro Stars 8-1. The  Hawks will play in finals at Carter Park @ 1:00

 
College Hawks Weekend of 6/22

The College Hawks travelled east to the Pittsburg area to take on Allegheny and the Pittsburg Pandas on the weekend of 6/22 and 6/23/2013. The Hawks went 4-0 on the weekend to improve to 14-2 in the Tristate Collegiate League and 5-0 in the Toledo League. The Hawks next travel to Youngstown / Cleveland to take on the Ohio Glaciers and the Ohio Baseball Club.

Game 1 Hawks at Allegheny

The first game of the day saw a pitcher’s duel for the first 4 innings. The Hawks finally broke through in the fifth inning to take a 1-0 lead and added 2 additional runs in the 6th inning to pull ahead 3-0. That would be the final as Alex Ricica (Purdue) and Matt Olsavsky (Lourdes) combined on a 2 hitter with Alex getting the win. The offense was led by Collin Parcher (Ohio Dominican) 2/3, Marty Ramirez ( Lourdes) 2/3 and Todd Vandercook (Palm Beach State) 2/4 with 1 RBI.

19u Hawks Win Blissfield Invitational

The 19U Toledo Post 587 Hawks completed a very successful week by winning the Blissfield Invitational on Sunday afternoon. After losing the first game of the tournament on Thursday to Whitehouse American Legion 8-0 the Hawks ran off 6 consecutive wins to win the tournament.

On Friday morning the Hawks crushed The Toledo Trojans 17U by the score of 14-1 in 5 innings. The score  was 9-0 before an out had been recorded. DH Miccoy Drzwiecki hit two grand slams in the game while Tad Sobieszczanski added a three run homer. Chad Kuebler gave up no hits in four innings of work.

College Hawks June 8 and June 9

The College Hawks welcomed the Chardon Blizzard and the Ohio Sting for the weekend of 6/8 and 6/9 to Mercy field.

Chardon 4 Hawks 3

                Game one against the Blizzard saw the Hawks jump out to a 1-0 lead after one inning of play after three hits. The visitors fought back and took a 4-1 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning. The Hawks plated two runs but it was not enough as they fell to the Blizzard 4-3. The pitching staff only allowed 5 hits but gave up 4 BB. The offense was led by Hunter Smith (Perrysburg, Michigan State) 2/3 with Double, 1RBI and 1 RS but the Hawks left several runners on base.

19U Hawks kick off season

The 19U Toledo Hawks won their first game of the season this evening beating Napoleon by the score of 6-2. Lead by strong pitching from Rob Bekier, Luke Hickey and Chad Kuebler the Hawks held Napoleon to 4 hits while the offense pushed across 6 runs lead by SS Blake Rudolph with two hits and 3 runs batted in. With a record of 1-0 the Hawks play Tuesday night at 7:00 at Mercy against Ottawa Ohio's American Legion squad!
