Get Weekday Work in Two Toledo Wins

On the evenings of Tuesday, July 5, and Thursday, July 7, the "Gold" squad of the Toledo Hawks Baseball club put in two workmanlike performances at Bowman Field.  Tuesday, the Hawks defeated Bedford 14-1; and in the Thursday night affair, they broke open a tighter game and upended the Black Swamp by an eventual 8-1 margin.

1-3 Weekend in Eastern Swing

The Toledo "Gold" Hawks entered the first weekend of July at 13-3 in the Tri-State League.  Saturday, the Hawk bats took a bit of a holiday vacation in games against the Ohio (Youngstown) Glaciers, as some fine pitching performances came up short in 3-2 and 1-0 Gold losses.  On Sunday, July 3, the Hawks finally got some offensive fireworks going to earn a split with the Canton Terriers; after dropping the first game 7-4, the Gold squad bounced back to claim an important 10-3 victory before heading to Monday barbeque action.

Doubleheader Split Leaves Gold at 13-3

The Shannon Fence team from Eastlake, Ohio came to Sylvania on June 26 with hopes of building a cage for the Toledo "Gold" Hawks.  In the first game of a Sunday doubleheader, they did just that--foiling a Hawk comeback bid with four 7th-inning runs to drop the Hawks 8-4.  In the second game, however, the Hawks broke open a close contest with a six-run fifth to fly away to a 11-2 victory and earn a split of the doubleheader between the two teams.

1st Game Comeback Leads To 2nd Game Romp

The Toledo Hawks "Gold" had to dig deep in the first game of a Saturday doubleheader in order to defeat the visiting Chardon Blizzard on June 25.  After coming from behind to win that contest by an eventual 9-5 score, the Hawks' now-sharp talons clawed through the Blizzard in the second game to notch a 8-1 win.
