The College Hawks travelled east to the Pittsburg area to take on Allegheny and the Pittsburg Pandas on the weekend of 6/22 and 6/23/2013. The Hawks went 4-0 on the weekend to improve to 14-2 in the Tristate Collegiate League and 5-0 in the Toledo League. The Hawks next travel to Youngstown / Cleveland to take on the Ohio Glaciers and the Ohio Baseball Club.

Game 1 Hawks at Allegheny

The first game of the day saw a pitcher’s duel for the first 4 innings. The Hawks finally broke through in the fifth inning to take a 1-0 lead and added 2 additional runs in the 6th inning to pull ahead 3-0. That would be the final as Alex Ricica (Purdue) and Matt Olsavsky (Lourdes) combined on a 2 hitter with Alex getting the win. The offense was led by Collin Parcher (Ohio Dominican) 2/3, Marty Ramirez ( Lourdes) 2/3 and Todd Vandercook (Palm Beach State) 2/4 with 1 RBI.

Game 2 Hawks at Allegheny

 

The Hawks wasted little time in the second game as the offense went for 4 runs in the top of the 1st inning. That was all the offense the pitching staff would need as Jeff Davis (Adrian), Jake Chipka (Hope) and Alex Williams (Findlay) combined on the three hitter. The Hawks then scored 2 in the 4th and 3 in the 7th to pull away with the 9-0 win. The offense was led by Sam Fischer (Adrian) 3/3 with 2RBI and 2 RS, John Joseph III (Adrian) 2/2 with 1 RS and 1 RBI, Josh Meyers (Rochester) 2/3 with 1RS.

Game 1 Hawks at Pandas

The Hawks scored 5 runs in the first two innings to take a 5-2 lead into the 4th inning. In the 4th they added 3 additional runs on the way to a 9-4 win in the first game of the day. John Fortunato (Case Western) pitched 4 innings for the win. The offense totaled 10 hits to go with 4 base on balls. Leading hitters for the day were Todd Vandercook 2/3 with 1 RBI and 3 RS, Zach Ryder (Adrian) 2/4 with 3RBI and 1RS and Sam Fischer 2/4 with a Home Run and 3RBI and 2RS.

Game 2 Hawks at Pandas

For the first time on the weekend the Hawks fell behind 1-0 after 1 inning of play but tied it up 1-1 with a run in the second. The Hawks plated 4 runs in the 4th to jump out to a lead in route to the 6-2 win to complete the weekend sweep. Mason Mayberry (Findlay) threw for 4 inning to get the win with Travis Mielcarek and Matty O in relief. The offense was led by Colin Parcher 2/2 with a Home Run and 2RBI 2RS, Zach Ryder 2/3 – 2 doubles 1 RBI and 1RS and Dylan Clifton- Lorton 2/3.
