The College Hawks were rained out in the Cleveland area on Saturday but were able to get in double header on Sunday at the Oregon Ohio Sports complex against two teams from the Toledo League.
Game 1 Hawks 9 versus Tilapia 0
The Hawks batted around during the second inning on the way to scoring 8 runs to take a commanding lead against the Tilapia. The offense was led by Joe Gentile, 3 for 3 with 2 RS and 1 RBI and Sam Fischer 2 for 2 with a double, 2RS and 1RBI. Cory Brown had a big double with two outs to plate 2. Travis Mielcarek started for the Hawks and went 3 innings without allowing a hit. Brent Greenwood and Jake Chipka came in to throw 2 innings each to preserve the shutout.
Game 2 Hawks 11- P&W Painting 0
The Hawks came into this game with a little chip on their shoulder as P&W had earlier given the Hawks their only defeat in the Toledo League 4-3 at Bowman. After Mason Mayberry shut down the Painters in the first the offense went to work as the first five hitters reached base and scored to take a 5-0 lead. The Hawks went on to score 3 additional runs in the third and fourth innings as Mayberry threw a two hitter and shutout the Paint in a 5 inning mercy. The offense was led by Hunter Smith who was 3/3 with two bombs and 4 RBI as well as 3 RS. Marty Ramirez 2/2 1RS 1 2B and 1 RBI also contributed to the 12 hit attack.
The Hawks will be back in action on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at Bowman and Friday in Medina Ohio before the weekends TriState League tournament, details to be announced. The Hawks now have a TriState League record of 27 -5 and an overall record of 36-6.
