On Father's Day, the Gold birds from Toledo got more great starting pitching, and some timely hitting, enabling them to score a doubleheader sweep of the Allegheny Athletics. After a late comeback allowed the Hawks to swipe the first game by a 3-2 score, they jumped out to an early lead in game two, then rode home to a 4-1 victory.- Details

Team Enjoys Pair of Saturday Shutouts
Behind great pitching - including a near no-hitter - the Toledo Hawks "Gold" blanked their guests from the Pittsburgh area in a pair of games on June 18 in Sylvania. In both contests, the Pandas fell prey to the Hawks hurlers by identical 2-0 scores.- Details
As in the Tuesday night contest a few days before, the Gold Hawks' pitching provided a solid performance in a 4-2 Thursday (June 16) victory over the Black Swamp at Bowman Park. However, while the crafty slants of the Swamp lefty may have limited the overall Gold rush, the Hawks put enough points on the board with some timely swats.

Earn 2nd Win in Toledo League
Behind a pair of fine right-handed pitching performances, the Toledo Hawks "Gold" squad flew to a 5-1 victory on a gorgeous Tuesday evening at Bowman Park in Toledo on June 14. A tight pitching duel with Bedford saw limited scoring early; however, some timely offense in the middle innings gave the Hawks the ability to glide to their second 2011 league win in as many contests.

The Toledo Black Hawks opened their home schedule of the Tri State Collegiate League at Bowman Park this past weekend taking 3 of 4 from the visitors.
Saturday, in the first game, the Canton Terriers were in town and the held the Black Hawk bats in check as the home team was only able to register 3 hits in the 5-2 loss in the first game. Nick Rodesky (Bluffton / Bowling Green) only allowed 2 earned runs in 5 innings of work but the Black Hawks just could not get the offense going.

After an opening game shutout win raised their overall record to 6-0, the Toledo Hawks "Gold" suffered their first loss of 2011 in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday, June 11. The Hawks, hosting the Ohio (Youngstown) Glaciers at Sylvania Southview High School, grabbed the first game in their talons by a 4-0 score; in the second contest, the Hawks battled back from a 9-2 deficit to eventually fall by a 9-8 margin.
